Nutritional Info

So, apparently New York has mandated that restaurants put the nutritional informational on their menus. I don’t know if this should be requirement, but I do think my dining hall should follow this initiative. Come on Chartwells! You are getting paid the same amount no matter how much we eat (buffet style) so why not encourage us to eat less.

Catty Girls

Why is it so hard for three females to hang out and get along? One day this girl that got a pretty bad reputation at that beginning of the year asked my best friend and I if she could start hanging out with us. We said sure, no big deal. Now, all of a sudden I am the third wheel. Ugghhness. Not to be all cocky fitness girl or anything, but I think they feel alienated and jealous since I started taking better care of myself. (At least that theory works for me.)

Overslept

I did not wake up in time to go to Spin class at the gym this morning. I’ll make the one at 5pm this evening. Other than that, today has been going well. Just iced latte (skinny) this morning for breakfast, and about 5 tablespoons of ground chicken breast for lunch. Dry (no dressing) salad for dinner and I should be set.

Best Workout Ever!

For some reason I have insane trouble with the elliptical at the gym. When I first started two weeks ago, I could barely stay on for over 2 minutes. Tonight, I set it to “Weight loss” for twenty minutes and stayed on the entire time. That burned 200 calories. I went on to work out my upper body, and finished with fifteen minutes of jogging on treadmill. Forgot to get on the scale so I will do that tomorrow morning before spin class. :)

Unsuccessful Week

On Tuesday I left for Jersey and New York City. Mini vacation. Stayed with my “boyfriend” there. (Un)fortunately, the city has amazing food.  Ate at really great restaurants, appetizers, cocktails, entrees… Just flew back into West Palm last night, so when I go to the gym tonight I will see if I gained away, or merely did not lose any.

Either way, I got right back on track today. One meal a day-dinner.

2 Pounds Down

I was to look like Sasha Gray. No, I don’t want to be a porn star. But she is 5’6” and 110 pounds. As of yesterday I am 131. Hahahaha. But I am happy that my first week of dieting and exercised paid off. The bad news is I have a trip tp NYC next week and I am gonig to be trying all sorts of good food. We’ll see how that works out.

Dorm Food

Chartwells supplies the food for my dining hall. It is usually hit or miss. This is the first week of trying to eat healthier. I have shunned the fountain beverages and the Grill (deep fried chicken breast, cheeseburgers, etc.) So far, I have been pretty successful at cutting calories- no more going back for 3rds….

I have learned that some of the best ways to eat less are:

1. Eating more protein. This has been a difficult part for me as I have always chosen the pasta and other carbs.

2. Drinking a glass of water before my meals.

3. Start with a salad, without dressing.

Sore Thighs!

So, woke up extra early yesterday to make it to Spin class at my gym. My usual workout time is 9:30pm, because I usually end up with the place to myself (except for the one guy that must live there.) Going at 8:00 I realized this must be when all the young money in Palm Beach keep their glamazon bodies; not an empty treadmill or elliptical in sight. But there was room in the class for me, which I must say was an amazing workout! The soundtrack that the trainer had was great. I thought I would not be able to keep up with the rest of the class, but I held my own.

I am looking forward to going back to that, and other classes, hopefully tomorrow. I am definitely feeling the pain this morning, though. It is worth it.

Hello world! Week 1 of Lifestyle Change

So, this didn’t happen during fall semester, but I noticed during Spring Break that I had definitely put on a couple pounds. I stopped going to the gym that my school provides and was not paying attention to what I was eating around December. This blog is initally going to document how my goal to get toned is going, but also look for interesting about my roommates and other college craziness!
